Turkey experiences building sector boom

13/07/06 - The growth in the Turkish building sector continues. In the first quarter of 2006, construction accounted for 26% of national GDP.
In the first three months of the year, councils issued 19.4 million building permits, 3.7% more than the same period in 2005.
The area covered by new buildings is also increasing, up by 23% with respect to the first quarter of last year to 7.8 million sq.m.
The total value of projects in progress amounts to about 3.4 billion euro.
