Alfa de Oro awards 2008
Assigned for the first time at the beginning of Cevisama at a ceremony that was strongly attended by the international press, industry professionals and local authorities, the Alfa de Oro awards 2008 once again brought to general attention the products judged most innovative on display at Cevisama.
For the first time in the thirty years of history of the competition, the Spanish ceramic and glass association (Secv) assigned the same award to three companies.
The Alfa de Oro for technological innovation went to Bestile, Azuliber and Neos Additives for a project to develop a new body for glazed porcelain tile called Ecoker, which increases productivity, improves energy efficiency and cuts CO2 emissions by 15% without altering the usual parameters and production systems.
The ceramic company Tres Estilos, a veteran of the awards, won the Alfa de Oro for developing a decoration process that enables warehoused ceramic tiles to be reused. Using digital technology, the tiles undergo a change of decoration at low temperature and third firing.
The process also drastically reduces the production of residues.
An Alfa de Oro went for the second time to Vidres, again for aesthetic innovation for tiles. The Spanish glaze and colour company has developed a range of products for ceramic decoration characterised by high stability and consistency, allowing for the production of tiles with an innovative surface. The process is based on controlled devitrification of large particle-size wolframates.
Last but not least, the Alfa de Oro for the bathroom furnishing sector went to the company Alselux for a shower enclosure equipped with a 180° opening system. Made entirely of crystal, the shower enclosure is particularly suitable for small spaces or for people with limited mobility.
The Alfa de Plata awards went to Ceramica Las Escandilla, Exagono Tecnico and Stone Decor.
