Betta Sanitaryware (South Africa) increases production

27/01/05 - Betta Sanitaryware, the South African ceramic sanitaryware manufacturer belonging to the Ceramic Industries Group, increased its production capacity in February from 1 million to 1.5 million pieces/year.

The expansion was achieved through the installation of a third STK 260/78 tunnel kiln, an ALS150 casting machine for the production of washbasins and pedestals, an AVE040 casting machine for the production of WCs with stick-on rims and two AVM150 casting machines for the production of WCs with stick-on rims (robotized demoulding and sticking operations), all supplied by Sacmi Whiteware.

For the glazing stage, Betta Sanitaryware chose the robotized glazing line and two robotized siphon glazing machines made by Gaiotto. This decision clearly demonstrates Betta’s belief in the advantages of using automatic high pressure casting machines and robotized glazing systems. Some 95% of its output is produced using high-pressure casting and 95% is glazed using glazing robots.

With this investment Betta Sanitaryware aims to consolidate its position as leader in the South African market. Its installations now include 8 AVE casting machines, 6 ALS casting machines, 4 AVM casting machines, 5 glazing robots, 3 robotized siphon glazing machines and 3 tunnel kilns.
