Ceramics, Tile and Sanitary Ware and Expo Build China on the starting blocks in Shanghai

Ceramics, Tile and Sanitary Ware and Expo Build China (29 March to 1 April), the two largest Asian exhibitions in the field of ceramics, bathroom furnishing, accessories and products for the building industry organised by BolognaFiere in cooperation with Ubm Sinoexpo, has opened the Sniec exhibition in Pudong, Shanghai.

With 400 exhibitors, a 40,000 square metre exhibition space and an anticipated 28,000 visitors, the two events are the preferred forum for the ceramics and bathroom furnishing sector and the building industry in the Asian market.

Architects, designers, distributors, importers and real estate developers from Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Oceania and Africa will find some of the most advanced and innovative materials in the high-end furnishing and design sectors, with a particular focus on Italian products.

This year’s event will host major Italian, Spanish and German brands including Sire, BBC, Gardenia Orchidea, Atlas Concorde, Marca Corona, Del Conca, Azulev, Ambio, Dune, Villeroy & Boch, Hansgrohe, Litokol, Lingl, Bongioanni, Tabu, Sipar, Alpi, Faac, Mapei, Hunter Douglas, Hormann and Roca, which recently signed an agreement with the Armani Group for the production and sale of a new bathroom furnishing line.
The exhibition will also host numerous non-commercial initiatives. One of the most important of these is the Design Festival 2010 which will feature a series of forums and conferences exploring the relationship between green architecture, interior design and new building materials.

In 2009 the Chinese domestic ceramic market performed well as a result of the central government’s credit promotion policy together with strong investments in infrastructures and support for the real estate industry.
In spite of the fall in exports (January-May 2009 was down by 10.7% over the same period in 2008), the Chinese tile industry’s output rose by 14.2% over the first 5 months of 2009.
