Cevisama 2006, the ceramic industry assembles in Valencia

17/01/06 - Cevisama 2006 (7-11 February) in Valencia will be the first event of the year to bring together the entire ceramic industry.
Being an even-numbered year, alongside the glaze and colour companies the Spanish show will also be hosting the machinery and technology producers.
The organisers believe that the presence of these companies alongside the tile and bathroom furniture producers will further bolster the show’s international standing.
As a result, more foreign visitors are expected than at last year’s show: estimates suggest over 11,000 from 144 countries. In all, Cevisama anticipates more than 90,000 industry professionals, a larger number even than in 2004 when the technology manufacturers were present.

The more than 850 direct exhibitors (out of the total number of about 1,200) will occupy a space of over 93,000 square metres. More than 24% of these will be foreign companies. The largest contingent will be the Italian firms (about 50%), followed by the Portuguese (20%) and Turkish producers (10%).
Some 55% of the exhibiting companies taking part will be tile producers, 20% machinery and raw materials manufacturers, and another 20% bathroom furniture manufacturers.

The in-focus section contains the layout of the halls and the presentation of ancillary events.

Cevisama 2006 will extend over all 4 levels of the new halls 5 and 6 in the Valencia exhibition centre.

Levels 2 and 3 in the new halls will host the ceramic tile producers; hall 5 and part of level 1 of halls 1 and 2 are devoted to machinery manufacturers; while the rest of level 1 will accommodate bathroom sector exhibitors.

The glaze and raw material producers are hosted on the third level of hall 6.
The other product sectors catered for by the exhibition are housed on level 2.

Ancillary initiativesAncillary initiatives

Indi, the programme of ancillary events at Cevisama focusing on the world of innovation and design, will be back again this year.
Two competitions are being held: Indistile for industrial design and technological innovation in the ceramic sector; and Bañeo, a new competition catering for the bathroom sector with two separate sections devoted to professionals and students.

Indi will also be featuring the H2Show, consisting of 40 exhibits created by internationally acclaimed interior designers and hosting new products developed by bathroom sector companies as a way of highlighting their links with design and innovation.

The Trans - Hitos exhibition will be back this year, featuring the latest technology and design in the Spanish ceramic tile and bathroom industry applied to architecture, town planning, furnishing and interior design.
The exhibition focuses on the theme of symbiosis by exploring relations between the ceramic tile industry, the bathroom sector and the world of architecture.

Another initiative to be held at Cevisama 2006 is the seventh conference on installation techniques, which will feature the first tile layers championship sponsored by the European Federation of Tile Fixers’ Associations (EUF). In this competition, teams from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Luxemburg, Switzerland and Spain will demonstrate techniques and materials used in different countries.

As customary, Cevisama will host the presentation of the Alfas de Oro awards, assigned to companies that have made significant technological or artistic progress in the field of ceramics or glass.
This year both the graphic design of the competition and the award itself have been renewed.
