Chicago is ready to host Coverings
The windy city is ready to accommodate more than 30,000 visitors converging from the American continent and overseas.
The McCormick Place Convention Center will see professional visitors from the construction industry; architects, interior designers and covering materials distributors based in the Chicago area, many of whom will be taking part in the show for the first time, contributing, according to directors, to a record-breaking event.
Coverings features some 1,200 exhibitors from more than 65 countries, a testimony to the importance that the American market gives the ceramic sector.
Tiles are continuing to become the most popular form of flooring, and today, account for more than 13% of North American floors.
The national production of tiles was about 60 million square meters in 2005, the demand was 305 million, making the United States the fourth largest tile consumer in the world, accounting for 4.7% of global consumption.
Imports naturally are continuing to rise and in 2006 reached +3,5% on 2005, reaching a total of 253,83 million square meters and a FOB value of 1,918.4 million dollars (+6.6% on the previous year.)
A special on the American ceramic tile market has been published in Tile International No. 1, for distribution at Coverings (Stand 2801) in a new double version with four languages (English/Spanish and French/German).
