Continua+ on show to international professionals
On 30 September, 160 professionals from 30 countries worldwide attended a live demonstration of the new Continua+ line, the revolutionary Sacmi technology for the production of large decorated ceramic panels.
Just a year after the launch, a total of 13 lines have already been adopted by the industry's leading global players. The demonstration was held in the renovated R&D Sacmi Centre in Imola, since 1989 the hub of the Group's activities where innovations in the field of tiles, sanitaryware, tableware and heavy clay are developed and tested.
One of the highlights of Continua+ is Sacmi's proprietary belt-type super-compactor which allows for the production of decorated ceramic panels with a width of up to 1,600 mm and a potentially unlimited length without size or thickness constraints. The system also features solutions for creating a range of effects such as textures and HD graphics thanks to the integration between DDD dry digital decorators, the use of structured belts and DHD wet digital decorators (the latter developed by Sacmi-Intesa).
The technology stands out for its high degree of flexibility, zero waste and enormous product range. This includes large 120x240 cm formats with very high resolution graphics (samples were made specially for the occasion in close cooperation with leading glaze and colour manufacturers); standard porcelain and marble and natural stone look tile sizes (polished and unpolished) produced through integration with the cutting line; and extremely large panels measuring 3200 mm by 1600 mm.
