Dexco chooses robotised glazing from Sacmi

The Brazilian ceramic group has launched an extensive investment programme for the sanitaryware sector, beginning with the Deca facility in Recife.

Dexco, a Brazilian manufacturer of ceramic sanitaryware, tiles and designer bathroom furniture, has launched a major investment programme aimed at improving the quality of the Deca Brasil brand of sanitaryware produced in the group’s factories in Jundai, Paraiba and Recife.

The first step in the project was the recent start-up of a Sacmi RobotGlaze line at the Recife facility, the first of four planned automatic sanitaryware glazing lines.

The chosen solution features a GA-OL EVO robot, which serves the 4-position carousel and is equipped with two long conveyors with a total of 7 + 7 positions to facilitate loading and unloading from the cell. This first solution is designed to glaze simple, easy-to-handle pieces, and will be followed by a further three lines with increasing levels of automation.

This first robot is equipped with advanced, high-performance electronics and software for offline programming. Despite the simplicity and linearity of the configuration, the solution features cutting-edge equipment for optimising glaze consumption and trajectories. This includes dry filters for complete overspray recovery and two GDA80 spray guns equipped with a diaphragm spray system, an exclusive Sacmi solution and a benchmark for the market.

The results achieved during this first phase include high production volumes and high glazing quality and repeatability thanks to the control systems, together with continuous and proactive customer support. The installed robot is connected to remote assistance, allowing Sacmi technicians to intervene remotely at any time. In addition, Sacmi do Brasil provides on-site services through a team of dedicated technicians trained at the Gaiotto site.
