Duravit expands in North Africa
In May this year Duravit finalised the acquisition of a 51% shareholding in MTC (Manufacture Tunisienne des Céramiques), a sanitaryware manufacturer best known for the Artica brand name and based in the city of Diserta northwest of Tunis.
This operation will allow Duravit to enter the Tunisian market as a local producer and to use the production capacity of the Tunisian site to penetrate the neighbouring countries of Maghreb more easily.
MTC will be able to use the Duravit product range to complement its existing Artica brand.
The company name will be changed to Duravit Tunisia and Lassaad Kilani will take over as managing director.
Duravit also has production facilities in Egypt which have enabled it to strengthen its position in North Africa and the Middle East. Some of its most recent orders include the major supply contract for Durj Dubai, the Dubai tower, for which Duravit will supply thousands of its products.
