Grespania to open new subsidiary in Poland

30/03/07 - In response to its rising exports to the markets of Eastern Europe, Grespania, one of Spain's best-known ceramic brands, has scheduled the opening of its new subsidiary in Poland for the second half of this year. Grespania has already been operating in Poland for over a year, with a depot and a commercial delegation.

The new site in Piotrkow, near Lodz, occupies a logistically strategic location, not just for the Polish market, but also for exports to the adjoining markets of Russia (with particular reference to the Kaliningrad region), Belarus, Ukraine and the Baltic States.

The opening of the Polish site brings the number of Grespania's foreign subsidiaries to 4. Its existing sites are in France (Paris), the Netherlands (Eindhoven) and Italy (Modena).

Grespania launched its manufacturing operations in 1976, dedicating itself exclusively to the production of white-body tile.
With this latest addition - the new kiln for through-body porcelain tile will come on-stream in mid-April - the company's output of porcelain tile will reach approximately 17,000 sq.m. per day, making it one of Spain's largest manufacturers.

Grespania closed 2006 with a 10% increase in exports. The value of sales in Russia alone has doubled over the past 3 years, to approximately 1 million euro.
