I Saloni events in the city

The 49th edition of the “I Saloni” events (14-19 April 2010) will be complemented by intense activity at the FuoriSalone (www.fuorisalone.it) in Via Tortona, the Triennale Design Museum and the Brera zone, a key area for the Milan design world with a high concentration of showrooms, galleries and spaces devoted to design and contemporary living. These areas will be hosting some of the leading producers of the most varied and innovative floor and wall covering materials and interior finishings.

The finest offerings from the world of Italian ceramic will be on display in the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, where an exhibition devoted to the world of children is being organised by Confindustria Ceramica under the umbrella of Ceramic Tiles of Italy. Exhibition events based on concepts of play, free time and a child-scale city will offer innovative approaches to urban design and sustainable living. Curated by Aldo Colonetti and with exhibit design by Franco Origini, this wide-ranging initiative brings together manufacturers of ceramic tiles, bathroom furnishings and installation products.

The excellence of Italian ceramic is represented by seven companies: Casalgrande Padana, which commissioned Studio 5+1 AA to create “Diamante Magico”; Ceramiche Coem which is showcasing “CrystalTile” by Giacomo Sanna; Cooperativa Ceramica di Imola with “Prospettive Magiche” by Massimiliano Raggi; Etruria design, which is presenting “Tappeto Volante” by S.O.S. Matteo Origoni; Mapei, which commissioned Matteo Beraldi to create “Labyrinth”; Marazzi which built “Cerabilintino” to a project by Massimiliano Pescio; and Simas which asked the Terri Pecora design firm to develop “Kid at heart”.
Numerous other events organised by the companies will be held both in the streets of Milan and directly in the company showrooms. These include:
