Lecico makes new investments
The Egyptian sanitaryware manufacturer has chosen Sacmi’s AVI Concept for robotic management of all operations within the casting cell.

Founded in 1959, Lecico is one of the world’s top ceramic sanitaryware manufacturers with exports to more than 50 countries. The group has consistently pursued technological innovation, product research and quality certification as key growth strategies.
After successfully introducing Sacmi RobotCasting technology (ALS) for washbasins at its Borg-el-Arab plant in Alexandria several years ago, Lecico is now taking another major step forward with the purchase of a new Sacmi AVI solution.
Featuring cutting-edge automation and robotics for ceramic sanitaryware casting, this is the first solution of its kind to be put into operation in Egypt.
The basis of the AVI Concept is robotised handling of all the main work phases carried out within the cell, from mould handling to loading of the formed piece onto the car, as well as demoulding operations and transfer of the piece to the FPV pre-dryer for the ageing stage.
The AVI cell is highly automated and versatile and can handle complex pieces created from up to 7-part moulds. At Lecico, the cell will be used primarily for the production of wall-hung WCs. AVI can mount any type of mould, even those designed for other Sacmi machines. For Lecico, this represents a major technological step forward following the switch to high-pressure washbasin casting.
Sacmi provided Lecico’s technical team with a personalised support and training plan throughout the installation and testing phases to enable the customer to obtain immediate benefits from the investment.
