MADE expo 2012 reports strong results

The recently concluded trade fair MADE expo 2012 held in Milan has reported results that demonstrate the resilience of the construction industry in spite of the continued difficulties in the international economy. The show has maintained its role as the leading event for the building and construction sector with a total attendance of 231,729 (-8.6%), including 31,235 international visitors, and the participation of 1,532 exhibitors.

The 2012 show concentrated on building renovation, land safety, eco-sustainability and protection of the environment, energy saving, innovative technologies and high performance materials. These issues were successfully explored as part of the Smart Village project. The Milan show was also an opportunity to launch concrete proposals such as the Building Identity Card - CIE containing comprehensive information for assessing the quality and sustainability of a building and the signing of a manifesto to extend to 2020 the 55% tax incentives for renovation work promoted by FederlegnoArredo, PVC Forum Italia and Uncsaal.

MADE expo 2013 will be held from 2 to 5 October and will have three major new features: a biennial frequency, specialisation and internationalisation. From 2013 onwards, the show will be held biennially (in odd-numbered years) to meet the requests of companies and align itself strategically with the leading European events for the building and construction industry.
