Mapei opens its first facility in Belgium
The new factory is based in Grâce-Hollogne and will produce concrete admixtures.
The Mapei Group, a world leader in the production of construction chemicals, has inaugurated its new production site for concrete admixtures in Grâce-Hollogne. With this investment, the company is strengthening its local presence in Belgium and taking an important step towards shorter delivery times and a lower environmental impact for the Belgian concrete sector.
The plant, the first of its kind in Belgium, is a fully automated facility where liquid and powdered raw materials are precisely dosed and mixed according to formulations developed by the Corporate Research Centre in Italy. With its inauguration, Mapei’s Belgian subsidiary strengthens its presence in the country’s construction sector, improves response times to customers and confirms the role of concrete admixtures as an indispensable lever for achieving high performance, both today and in the future.
Mapei has been present in Belgium since the 1970s and in 1997 opened its site in Grâce-Hollogne, which comprises a warehouse, a concrete research and development laboratory, a training centre, a showroom and now the new additives plant. Over the years, Mapei has contributed to major projects such as the Flemish Parliament in Brussels, the Berlaymont Building housing the European Commission, Brussels Zaventem Airport, the NATO headquarters in Evere, the Grand Hôpital in Charleroi and the stadium in La Louvière.
