MOSBUILD 2007: the boom in the Russian market

03/04/07 - Mosbuild, the largest trade fair in Eastern Europe for the building and interior finishing sector, opens today. The show is expected to be a big success, particularly due to enormous potential of the Russian market which is strongly attracting investors.

Tile consumption in Russia has grown exponentially over the last decade and is expected to continue to rise at a rate of more than 11% a year over the next two years to reach 170 million sq.m.
Already in 2005 Russia ranked tenth amongst consumer countries with more than 130 million sq.m. Per capita consumption is amongst the lowest in Eastern Europe with just 0.92 sq.m in 2005.
Equally significant is the growth in local production, which reached 100 million sq.m in 2005.
The area’s strong growth prospects are attracting large investments in production facilities by foreign businesses, especially Italian.

The Expocentr trade fair centre will be hosting three different exhibit sections: Ceramic & Stone, a pavilion devoted to ceramic tile manufacturers, Santechnika for bathroom furnishing and Technoceramica for production technology.

70 Italian ceramic tile manufacturers are taking part, almost all of them assembled in the large Ceramic Tiles of Italy pavilion, the largest foreign contingent at the show.

Italian technology takes centre stage in the Technoceramica section where a 750-square-metre pavilion organised by the Italian Trade Commission ICE and Acimac is hosting more than 30 companies.
On 4 April, in the exhibition Congress Centre, a press conference will be held in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Russia, Vittorio Surdo.
For the occasion, Acimac’s director general Paolo Gambuli will give a talk entitled “Italian technology: the growth engine in the world ceramic industry”.

The show will also see the launch of the new special issue of Tile International, the acclaimed international magazine which is being published in a Russian version for the local market.
