Multigecko by System conquers the Marazzi group

Marazzi/Dal Tile, today under the aegis of Mohawk, has chosen the new Multigecko sorting machine by System for the management of all product sizes at the American Marazzi Tile plant located in Texas. The plant in Sunnyvale (Dallas) was built in 2013 and is the first U.S. case of an operating unit specially designed with the flexibility needed to produce traditional sizes, strips and large sizes up to 600x1200, the latter until now imported largely from Italy.

There are two main reasons that led the ceramic giant to System technology. The Multigecko sorting machine is characterised by ease of size change and an open structure that allows for the "vision" of the choice with quick maintenance. The complete independence of the choice of straps and devices for the transport and extraction of pieces reduces the elements subject to wear to a minimum and therefore reduces the time and cost of maintenance resulting in continuous productivity. The latter is an important requirement for American Marazzi Tile.

The plant in Dallas will expand with the installation of a new dual-channel furnace, for the production of approximately 10,000 square metres per day, per mouth, of porcelain and single glazed floor tiles. Production will be concentrated on porcelain tiles in sizes ranging from 300x300 mm to 600x1200 mm, including strips ranging from 150x600 mm to 150x1200 mm. The three Multigecko systems implemented in the production line have 16 stackers each, and are designed specifically for the management of sheet-like products of different sizes and typology guaranteed by a special software.

The complete System supply consists of 4 groups of Rotocolor S4 (from 5 +1 heads each), three Qualitron NG BS, three lines of Easy Line FV08 choice with dual packaging and three Falcon Portale palletisers with fittings, coupling, glue, strap and furnace for shrink-wrap.

The investment of Marazzi/Dal Tile, the leading group in North America and above all in the USA in terms of volume, sales and exports, has resolved limits that "traditional" supply adapted to big sizes pose. The "advanced" structure achieved by partnering with System is in anticipation of smaller but differentiated production lots, with a requirement for frequent size change but featuring unique efficiency.
