Nilson Crispim Júnior (Grupo Elisabeth) appointed chairman of Anfacer
Anfacer elected its new chairman at the Annual General Meeting held on 14 March. Nilson Crispim Júnior, chairman of Grupo Elisabeth, will lead the Brazilian association of manufacturers of ceramic tiles, sanitaryware and related products for the next two years, taking over from Heitor Ribeiro de Almeida Neto. Cerâmica Elizabeth is one of Brazil’s largest ceramic groups with 5 factories (3 in the state of Paraiba, one in Rio Grande do Norte and one in the south of the state of Santa Catarina) and an installed capacity of 5 million sq.m/month of ceramic and porcelain tiles.
Anfacer’s AGM was held during Expo Revestir (São Paulo, 13-16 March), the largest exhibition of floor and wall tiles and bathroom furnishings in Latin America, which set a new attendance record in 2018. A total of 62,000 visitors converged on the Transamerica Expo Center for the four days of the show, attracted by the range and quality of exhibits and the packed programme of ancillary events. These included the customary International Forum of Architecture and Construction, which was attended by 3,500 industry professionals and saw the participation of two Pritzker prize winning architects, Paulo Mendes da Rocha and Toyo Ito.
Another event that attracted strong interest was Tecnargilla Brasil, the annual conference for Brazilian ceramic industry technicians which this year focused on the theme of large, thin ceramic surfaces. Speakers included Ana Paula M. Menegazzo (CCB Brazilian Ceramic Centre), Marsis Cabral Júnior (Technological Research Institute of the State of São Paulo), Michele Dondi (ISTEC-CNR), Werter Mazzoni (BMR), Emilio Benedetti (LB) and Silas Pincinato (Sacmi).
The next Expo Revestir will take place from 12 to 15 March 2019.
