Sabo upgrades Cemacon plant in Romania
The upgrade, which was concluded successfully and to schedule, was aimed at significantly increasing production capacity and improving the handling of new thermally insulating blocks.
Sabo has recently upgraded the main plant of Cemacon, one of the largest brick makers in Romania. The upgrade, which was concluded successfully and perfectly to schedule, was aimed at significantly increasing production capacity and improving the handling of new thermally insulating blocks produced by the Romanian company.
Given today’s competitive environment, challenging market and soaring energy costs, it is more important than ever to improve the energy efficiency of existing plants through technology upgrades. This is a very delicate task that involves identifying bottlenecks in every stage of the production process. Cemacon and Sabo collaborated closely to study and identify the precise areas that needed to be upgraded.
The conventional dryer frame unloading system was replaced by two high-capacity robots, while frame handling was modified to accommodate the new design. The existing chain conveyors were adapted with minimum investment and time and the setting machine was also upgraded to allow for more accurate and faster layer programming. In general, dried brick handling was simplified and minimised to avoid all unnecessary movements.
The newly upgraded setting machine ensures high flexibility and the ability to perform more precise settings that can help the firing process, which has also been upgraded. The tunnel kiln was extended, the heat recovery and counter-pressure ventilation were improved and all changes were incorporated into the existing Sabo automatic kiln regulation system. Finally, the software and HMI (human-machine interface) were transformed into an efficient, parametric and flexible control system.
