Sacmi supplies new double-channel kiln to Ceramica Savoia
Ceramica Savoia recently started up a new 84 metre long Sacmi RKK double-channel roller kiln at its factory in Fiorano Modenese. The plant can reach a production of around 9,000 sq.m/day (depending on the glazed porcelain tile format) and has been equipped with an energy recovery system that collects air at 120°C from the hot air extraction flue and introduces it into the burner at 110°C. This brings significant fuel savings and a reduction in environmental impact.
To ensure better management and precise control of slow cooling, Sacmi has introduced heat dissipation tubes which exchange heat indirectly with the product and has doubled up the hot air extraction pipes in the final cooling phase.
The kiln supervision system uses two PCs with two integrated software platforms (Praktico and Tutor), which perform separate process control and data management. Kiln management has been further improved by a device called Spinmark which reports roller breakages along with software for managing large and small production gaps, and the fast cooling burners for reducing cooling cracks. The supply package is rounded off by a handling system from Sima, the Sacmi group company specialising in the production of handling and storage plants.
