SACMI turns 105 and is organising a special event on 30 November
SACMI celebrates 105 years since its foundation with a day open to all and a series of acitvities dedicated to youngsters.
On the 105th anniversary of its founding, SACMI is flinging open the doors to its Imola plant, with a special event being held on Saturday 30 November, from 8:30 to 17:30. Named “A day at SACMI to discover our world”, this initiative gives participants an opportunity to take a close look at the developments and innovations the company has implemented in recent years.
“Over the last five years - points out the President of SACMI, Paolo Mongardi - we’ve experienced radical changes, economically, socially and technologically. SACMI has continued to grow, with bold projects that look to the future... and future generations. We’ve built smarter machines, worked for a cleaner environment and taken the company - and its performance - to the next level”.
This event offers an opportunity to share some of the results of these changes, which have involved every area of the ‘factory’.
In addition to a visit to the plant, several activities dedicated to youngsters will be offered during the day. Children and young people can take part in creative scientific workshops that focus on sustainability, energy efficiency and AI, allowing them to explore the challenges of the future in a fun, interactive way. In the not-too-distant future, those same children might be tackling such challenges themselves at SACMI, as the company continues to take on hundreds of new people every year (almost 600 in 2023 alone), with over 50% of new hires aged under 30 and a high percentage of them with excellent STEM profiles. What’s more, SACMI provided its employees with 92,000 training hours in 2023. Those visiting the company on Saturday 30 November will be welcomed by those same ‘SACMI people’, with over 100 volunteers joining in to help on this special day.
There will also be food and wine stands offering local specialties.
“We want to celebrate another company milestone, together, by inviting families and citizens”, adds Paolo Mongardi. “It’s an excellent opportunity for us to illustrate our ‘innovation hubs’ and showcase our achievements with pride”.
However, the event is more than just a celebration of 105 years of SACMI. It’s also an opportunity to strengthen ties with a local community that has played a pivotal role in its growth and development. Our history is closely entwined with that of the city of Imola. Following decades of expansion alongside the Italian ceramic and packaging industries, SACMI has become a truly global business. It has branches in 27 countries and more than 5,200 employees: yet it’s technological and manufacturing heart remains firmly in Italy.
The event is open to everyone, free of charge.
