Saie 2010: integrating to build
Sustainability, production and services are the three pivotal themes of Saie 2010, the International Building Fair to be held in Bologna from 21 to 24 October.
There’ll be a host of new products and initiatives for the 170,000 visitors and 1,700 exhibitors who habitually converge on the 235,000 square metres of exhibition space, under the slogan “Integrating to build”. The goal of SAIE 2010, in fact, is to provide a melting pot for the integration of know-how and technology, with a view to pushing the building industry towards that big leap forward that is so keenly awaited by operators.
The 46th edition of the event will again include Saienergia, which has grown and become Saienergia & Sustainability, and now combines the renewable energies section with the section devoted to materials, systems and components for safe and sustainable building. Piazza Energia (hall 14) is the hub of the show, and will play host to a succession of conferences, workshops, exhibitions and debates coordinated by Mario Cucinella. Cuore Mostra will also be back, with its focus on the architecture of the major designers whose work integrates new technologies, new materials and new energy systems. So too will Saieselection, the competition for students and young designers, which will focus this year on the subject of integration in architecture. Green & Stone, the show dedicated to natural stone and the many design objects it is transformed into, will be back for the third time, and will take the theme of integration of stone and greenery as a starting point for new forms of urban design. Saie 2010 will also host the seventh edition of the New Product Guide curated by Artec, the architecture and industrial design archive of the IUAV University of Venice.
The event is a bellwether of innovation in the construction industry and has been showcasing the key new developments presented at the Bologna-based fair since 2004. In conjunction with the former, the New Product Selection awards prizes every year to the most innovative products presented, and puts them on display at an exhibition held in the Services Centre.
