SITI-B&T supplies new roller kiln to Ceramiche Piemme
The new firing line installed at the facility of Ceramiche Piemme, a leading Italian and international ceramic group, is now fully operational. The new single-channel roller kiln with loading width of 2850 mm and total length of 97.68 metres is part of the first phase of technological investments agreed with SITI-B&T. The kiln is equipped with the latest energy-recovery systems developed by SITI-B&T which allow a significant amount of heat to be reused. The consequent energy saving leads to a reduction in fuel consumption.
The installed system recovers hot air from the cooling flue outlets and conveys the hot air to the burners at temperatures of up to 230°C, using specially insulated pipes to avoid heat losses. This allows for fuel savings of around 8%. As well as the savings made by the hot air for the burners, the installed system also provides a further quantity of air at around 100ºC which can be reused in the spray dryers or for workplace heating in the winter.
