TheSize, all set for expansion
In the seven years since it was set up, TheSize Surfaces, Spanish ceramic manufacturer based in Almazora (Castellón), is ready to install its third production line, which is due to start up in September.
"Three lines in 7 years may seem like a lot but the truth is that demand for Neolith has grown enormously from one year to the next and we have had to expand in order to cope with it", Jesús Esteve, Chairman of TheSize Surfaces told us.
The company was founded in 2009 with the goal of creating ceramic surfaces that would be capable of breaking out of the traditional field of floor and wall tiles and exploring applications in new architectural segments. A pioneer in the large format tile segment, in 2010 it launched its first large-size porcelain panel under the Neolith trademark as an innovative solution for the architecture and interior design sector. Created using latest-generation technology from System and propelled by the reactivity of the market, the product took off rapidly. The first production line started up in 2009 was followed by a second in the summer of 2013 for sizes up to 150 x 320 cm and thicknesses of between 5 and 20 mm. A third line is due to start up in September 2016.
“2015 went better than expected in terms of sales, - Esteve continued - reflecting the fact that sintered services are increasingly becoming an industry standard. Of course it was hard at the beginning, but our product evolved rapidly in response to market trends. While the first production line produced 3600x1200 mm sizes with thicknesses of 3 mm and 5 mm, the third line is designed for the production of a 3200x1600 mm size with a thickness of 2 cm (theoretical range 12-30 mm). This new line will also be able to generate new finishes and designs and will enable us to double the factory’s total production capacity. Once it reaches full-scale production, we’ll start preparing for the next step."
