Wienerberger Group continues to expand

21/08/03 - The Wienerberger Group is continuing its expansion programme, with three important acquisitions announced in the month of June. First, Wienerberger Bricks N.V., the Group's Belgian subsidiary, bought two perforated brick factories from Swenden.
The two plants have a total capacity of 220 million NF and in 2002 generated revenues of 13 million euro. In Poland, the Group's subsidiary Semmelrock (controlled 75%) acquired a factory for the production of paving systems at Gliwice in the south of the country.

Together with the existing facility at Kolbiel, near Warsaw, the new site will meet demand from a constantly expanding local market. Semmelrock has also begun building a new state-of-the-art clay paver plant at Ogulin, near Karlovac in Croatia.
The factory will be strategically located to serve the building market in Croatia (particularly that of the tourist industry) and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The volume of investments for the acquisition in Poland and construction of the new factory in Croatia will amount to 12.5 million euro.
The Pont de Vaux hollow brick plant in France is already in the start-up phase.
