Winner of Tecnargilla Design Award announced

Yesterday saw the presentation ceremony for the second Tecnargilla Design Award, the competition organised by Tecnargilla to honour the latest technological innovations in the ceramic industry. The theme of this year's competition was "Future surfaces" and featured innovative projects submitted by System, Sacmi, Siti B&T, Projecta Engineering, Colorobbia Italia, Sertile, Vidres, SRS, Esmalglass Itaca Group, Colour Service and Digital Design.

The projects were assessed by a panel of creative and technical directors from ceramic companies and tile retailers.

The project that was judged to have best interpreted this year's theme was "Co" by System, which offers a foretaste of potential future digital applications and industrial-scale production.

System's project was chosen for the following reasons:

-        Excellent combination and use of the fundamental components of a ceramic product.

-        Outstanding definition of colours and details.

-        Alternation of digitally-generated relief thicknesses with flat graphic designs; alternation of satin and gloss finishes within the same design.

The project "Digital Project" by Digital Design received a special mention from the jury, who commented: "The project achieves a perfect combination of ceramic tradition and new digital technologies".
