Tile - Control - E is a new dimensional, diagonal, flatness and thickness control system for ceramic tiles produced by Appel. Based on experience acquired in the field, the new system introduces a number of major advantages over the standard Tile-Control system, including significant savings in terms of installation space and a simpler and quicker size change procedure, which can be performed automatically or manually by means of a handwheel.

This new system is also able to check diagonal defect to a precision of a tenth of a millimetre and can display on the operator panel which of the two diagonals is longer, allowing the defect to be corrected rapidly. A choice of measuring sensor technologies has also been introduced, with the option of choosing between conventional flatness and CCD sensors and laser sensors both for the calibre unit and for the flatness unit. Tile - Control - E is able to control a wide range of sizes from 10x10 cm up to 120x120 cm and all intermediate sizes, including strips with a large difference between the two side lengths. This is made possible by a new management and calculation software for the diagonal and measurements.
