The largest Italian ceramic tile groups and companies (2017)
The 2017 rankings of the largest 30 Italian ceramic tile companies. The exclusive annual study was conducted by the magazine Tile Italia and offered to its readers by Ceramic World Review.
Despite slower growth than in 2016, almost all 33 largest Italian ceramic tile manufacturing groups and companies reported an increase in revenue at the end of 2017. Their figures were published in the exclusive annual study conducted by the magazine Tile Italia and offered to its readers by Ceramic World Review in its latest Special Tecnargilla & Cersaie issue.
This league table of excellence is opened by the top Italian groups with revenues above 200 million euros, whose rankings have remained unchanged. Although Concorde Group does not publish its operating data, it certainly remains at the top of the rankings along with its many companies and brands in Italy, France, Russia and the United States.
In second place is Iris Ceramica Group with consolidated revenues of 590 million euros, up 11.3% on 2016 with an increase of 60 million euros (the largest growth in absolute terms). Next come Finfloor Group with consolidated revenues of 424.8 million euros (up 4.4% on 2016) and Panariagroup with 384.6 million euros (+2%). Closing out this top segment of Italian groups are Casalgrande Padana (265.1 million euros, -4.8%) and Coop. Ceramica d’Imola (244.8 million euros, -1.3%), whose manufacturing operations are based entirely in Italy, unlike the four largest groups which are all highly internationalised in terms of production.
The figures for Marazzi Group (which would certainly feature in this first part of the rankings) are not present in the table as they are included in the overall financial results of Mohawk Industries
A total of 7 companies occupy the revenue segment of between 100 and 200 million euros. The Faetano-Del Conca group posted 2.9% growth to 168.8 million euros, followed by Ricchetti Group with a 1.8% contraction to 162.2 million euros. Gresmalt Group again reported double-digit growth in 2017 to more than 132 million euros (+12.8%), while Rondine Group (+1.4%) and ABK Group (+5.8%) both posted revenues of 110 million euros. In June this year the latter signed an agreement with Capital For Progress 2 (CFP 2) for listing on the AIM Italia segment of the Italian stock market by January 2019. As for Rondine Group, its acquisition was announced on 15 October 2018 by Italcer Group, which will therefore climb the rankings in the next 2018 updates.
Finally, Industrie Ceramiche Piemme and Romani Group both remained stable at 2016 levels with 104 million euros.
In general, companies with turnovers of between 30 and 100 million euros also achieved strong performances, mostly notably Laminam which followed up its 36% growth in 2016 with a further 25% upturn in 2017 to 85 million euros, the largest percentage increase in the entire sector.
