Appointment in India with Ceramics and Ceramic Technologies

15/03/04 Ceramic producers (tiles, sanitaryware, tableware) and suppliers of technology and raw materials interested in the Indian market will be meeting in the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center in New Delhi (India) from 24 to 26 March 2004 for the exhibition Ceramics &Ceramic Technologies. Now in its second year, the event is organised by the Indian company Services International with the sponsorship of Acimac (Italian ceramic plant and machinery manufacturers’ association) and three local business associations: Indian Buildings Congress, Indian Council of Ceramic Tile and Sanitaryware (ICCTAS), and All India Brick and Tile Manufacturers Association. The participation of the Italian ceramic machinery and equipment suppliers, coordinated by Acimac and the Italian Trade Commission ICE, will be organised as part of a joint pavilion that includes Air Power, Simec, Setec, MCM, Sacmi, Euromeccanica and System. There will also be a Punto Italia exhibit assembling companies that include Premier, Manfredini &Schianchi, Pedrini, Eurotecnica, Officine Smac, Surface Inspection, BMR and Barbieri &Tarozzi.

The growth of the Indian economy continued in 2003 as a result of an economic policy that has favoured industrial development and increased consumption.
The ceramic industry has likewise benefited, reaching almost complete utilisation of its production capacity thanks to greater domestic demand. It is estimated that India has an accommodation shortage of about 40 million housing units, due for construction in the near future.

Ceramic tile exports are also increasing as local companies achieve higher product quality through the use of advanced technology. Numerous companies are planning investments to expand production.
