Cersaie 2018 registers attendance of 112,000 visitors
Cersaie 2018, the world-leading event for the ceramic tile and bathroom furnishing sectors held in Bologna from 24 to 28 September, was attended by a total of 112,104 visitors.
Attendance was up by 0.4% with respect to 2017 as a combined result of an increase in numbers of international visitors (+1.6%) to 54,025 and a slight fall (-0.6%) in Italians (58,079).
This year the exhibition space totalled 161,000 square metres, an increase of 5,000 square metres due to the newly opened halls 28, 29 and 30.
A total of 840 exhibitors took part, including 314 non-Italian companies – more than a third of the total – from 40 different countries. Ceramic tile was the best represented sector with 452 companies, followed by bathroom furnishings with 181 exhibitors.
The Keynote Lecture given by Pritzker Laureate Richard Rogers was a big success and saw the Europa Auditorium filled to capacity with an audience of 1,800.
Again this year Cersaie for Students saw the participation of more than 3,100 high school and university students, who took part in a series of meetings on ceramic design and in the lesson in reverse given by photographer Silvia Camporesi, attended by an audience of more than 1,000 students.
The partnership with Bologna Design Week, now in its fourth year, offered a packed programme of evening events held in and around the headquarters in Palazzo Isolani in Bologna city centre. The programme will be further expanded in coming years.
