Cevisama at debut on tuesday in Valencia
“Artechnology” is the slogan chosen by Cevisama to identify its 26th edition, to be held, as usual, in Valencia, from 5 to 9 February. Cevisama 2008 promises to put art, architecture, design and technology centre stage, in order to show the many expected visitors the trends that will mark the future of both the interior and exterior of buildings.
In addition to the exhibition of machinery and technologies for the ceramic industry (held every other year), the collateral activities relating to design and innovation organised as part of Cevisama Indi this year include both new and established initiatives, testifying to the appreciation shown by past visitors.
This year’s premieres include ‘Bluespace’, an international exhibition on the new culture of the bathroom, and ‘Nómadas’, the 2008 edition of ‘Trans/Hitos’, the established exhibition dedicated to ceramic and bathroom furnishing in architecture, which will centre on ideas inspired by nomadic peoples.
Indi will also include exhibitions of the projects presented at the international competitions Indistile (dedicated to industrial design in the ceramic sector) and Bañeo (for student bathroom designers).
Running concurrently with Cevisama is the ‘Foro de Arquitectura y Diseño’, a series of seminars with design professionals, which will see the participation of top international architects and designers.
An absolute first is also in store for technology applied to ceramic, because the trade fair’s organisers have promoted an initiative called ‘Ceramica Innova’, which will include technological seminars, bilateral meetings between manufacturers and suppliers and visits to the plant engineering firms based in the Castellón area.
As well as organising these ancillary initiatives, Cevisama 2008 is aiming to step up its role as a privileged meeting point between international demand and supply in the ceramic sector. The Valencia trade fair complex is aiming to host over 1,000 exhibitors (there were 1,442 in 2007 in an area of 93,000 sq.m.) and exceed the already excellent attendance figures of last year, by topping the 100,000 mark. Further increases are expected in foreign visitor numbers, which have been rising in recent years from all the main world markets, especially the Middle East, Asia and Europe. And Cevisama is dedicating considerable attention to its international public (originating from 147 countries in 2007), not just during the event, with increasingly targeted and helpful services, but also throughout the year. This year’s promotion centred on Russia, while the focus of 2008 will be Dubai.
