Iris looks to establish Russian base
With factories in the United States (Stonepeak in Crossville, Tennessee) and Germany (Porcelaingres, in the Brandeburg regione), the GranitiFiandre - Iris Group, founded in 1961 by Romano Minozzi, is ready to establish itself also in Russia.
The news was disclosed by his daughter and managing director Federica Minozzi, following a recent visit to Sassuolo by the Mayor of Stupino, Pavel Chelpan, with whom the Italian Group has been discussing the procedural phases for the realization of the new ceramic tile production plant.
"It is necessary to produce near the end markets – said Federica Minozzi - therefore we have decided to bet on the development of the Russian market and to start there our new plant". The investment will be about 60 million euros.
Stupino, a city of 118,000 inhabitants located south of Moscow, offers a number of advantages, such as advanced infrastructure and development sites, to attract foreign investors, who also benefit from targeted plans launched by the local authorities over the years. Currently, 20% of foreign investment in the city comes from Italian businesses, including the MarazziGroup and Atlas-Concorde ceramic tile facilities and the Mapei adhesive production plant.
