Large Sacmi-made sizes for Century
A key Sacmi supply recently went to Ceramica Fincibec, a long-standing Italian company that has been doing business since the 1960s. Initially a producer of porcelain floor tiles, the company has, over the years, extended its range by continuing to innovate and focussing on technological research and eco-sustainability. Now, after more than 50 years of tile-making, the company has no less than three different brands: Monocibec and Century for porcelain tiles and Naxos for top-quality wall tiles.
A key element of this new production line, started up just a few weeks ago at the Century plant in Roteglia (Reggio Emilia), is the Imola-series PH 7500 press, specially designed to make very large ceramic slabs (up to 1200x1200 and 800x1600 mm). The press features the electronic SPE ejection device, designed to manage thickness adjustments fully automatically, while the linear filler box is synchronised with the press. It is, in fact, these axes "coordination" solutions that allow this 75,000 kN press to achieve such high output rates.
Sacmi has also supplied the firm with a fast vertical EVA 412 dryer, again designed to handle considerable quantities and very large tile sizes. This machine has several excellent design features, the most deserving of mention being the hygrometric devices capable of optimising the drying process and the inverters which minimise energy consumption.
