LB hands over to next generation
Forty years since its foundation in 1973 by Ivanno Ligabue and Ermes Bigi, LB of Fiorano Modenese, is passing the baton to Matteo Bigi, aged 39, who has spent 19 years working at LB, and Emilio Benedetti, aged 42, the son-in-law of Ivanno Ligabue and a manager of proven experience in industrial engineering and automation for the ceramic industry.
LB thus remains an independent, family business, with a strong commitment to pursuing the prestigious path embarked upon by its founders.
LB is focusing its investments in two main areas: first, on strengthening the sales network, with a view to expanding international market share by appointing new technical sales agents with experience in the ceramic industry; and second, on reinforcing the Research & Development department, with a view to consolidating the technical leadership that LB has always enjoyed in the field of porcelain tile.
The reassuring revenues reported in 2011 confirm the validity of the expansion process undertaken by the company, which will also be taking part in Tecnargilla 2012 with an unprecedented range of technologies, including dry grinding technology with micro-granulation of ceramic bodies, which is revolutionising ceramic production processes, especially in countries where energy-saving and environmental considerations are a decisive factor in the choice of production technologies; and a series of important innovations in dry colouring systems for spray-dried bodies (LB patent) and in press feeding systems for the production of porcelain tile.
