Marazzi relaunches in the United States
One of the top ceramic tile manufacturers, Sassuolo-based Marazzi Group, has made a USD 26 million investment in the US market. The group has formalised the acquisition of six major wholesale centres in the Southwest of the United States and is set to install a new porcelain tile production line at its Dallas facility in the first half of 2011. It has also considerably strengthened its leadership position in Italy with investments of 90 million euro, and in 2010 generated revenues of USD 210 million in the United States (21% of total turnover) where it has a market share of 12%. Other important markets are Western Europe and Russia where the Group generates respectively 50% and 16% of its revenues.
“This important result has been achieved by improving the quality of production and increasing the efficiency of the two US factories,” explained Marazzi’s managing director Maurizio Piglione. While declining to make forecasts for 2011, he confirmed the strong performance in 2010 compared to 2009.
