Opoczno goes for Ceramics 4.0 and selects Sacmi's technologies
Opoczno, one of Poland's oldest ceramic manufacturers and a member company of the Cersanit Group, has partnered up with Sacmi to implement an ambitious plant modernisation project. This particular investment concerns the plant where a complete line has been installed, based on Continua+ technology for the manufacture of slabs as large as 1200 x 2400 mm.
Up and running since August, the plant incorporates all the latest Sacmi automation technology and 4.0-type plant flow engineering solutions. Moreover, in addition to the compactor, the Italian supplier has supplied all the downstream solutions, namely the 5-layer ECP horizontal dryer, an EKO kiln and all the fully automatic handling, storage and sorting lines, plus the LGVs (laser guided vehicles) by Nuova Sima.
Most importantly, Opoczno has decided to equip its new plant with the latest-generation Sacmi H.E.R.E. (Human Expertise for Reactive Engineering) line supervisor, an unrivalled state-of-the-art solution for monitoring and controlling the ceramic process according to Industry 4.0 logic.
Through this investment, then, Opoczno aims to make the most of more than a century of manufacturing experience and ceramic culture, paving the way for future success thanks to the most advanced technology on the market. The customer also expressed great satisfaction with Sacmi's ability to provide the Opoczno team with close support right from the design stage; that teamwork resulted in completion of the new line and the start of slab production in record-breaking time.
