RAK Ceramics carries through internationalisation projects
The company will also be starting up a new sanitaryware plant in Bangladesh in October which the management claim will have an annual capacity of 400,000 pieces. The plant is equipped exclusively with machinery from Sacmi Whiteware, using the same solutions recently installed successfully in the UAE.
Another project is in progress to increase the capacity and level of automation of the production cycle at the Ras Al Khaimah sanitaryware plant, which currently produces more than 500 pieces of sanitaryware a day (along with more than 130,000 square metres/day of tiles).
By the end of the year, the company will be starting up a new AVE040 high-pressure WC casting unit for washbasins and pedestals and an SSK 440/170-9 intermittent kiln for firing and refiring. The results already achieved in the first half of 2003 with the installation of a SSK440/170-9 kiln and two high-pressure casting benches have been a success in terms of both output and quality. The decision has consequently been taken to continue the expansion project for several more years, again in cooperation with Sacmi Whiteware.
