RAS satisfied for its debut at Cersaie
In Bologna the German company RAS AG unveiled its range of antibacterial ceramic additives.
Three years since it first entered the ceramic market, the German company RAS AG debuted at Cersaie 2018 with its range of antimicrobial nanomaterials for the production of ceramic tiles and sanitaryware. The solutions proposed by the German company (founded in Regensburg in 1995) consist mainly of nanosilver with superior antimicrobial performance and are already widely used by leading European manufacturers in a range of sectors including textiles, agriculture and healthcare.
Compliant with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), RAS nanosilver materials have ideal physical and chemical characteristics for ceramic applications and are already adopted as standard by a number of producers in Germany and Turkey (including Vitra and SeraPool). RAS has entered into non-exclusive development partnerships in Italy and Spain, and increasingly also in India, Saudi Arabia and Thailand. RAS has distributors in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, Taiwan and India and is expanding its sales network in the USA.
The company aims to expand its international presence in the ceramic market from the current level of 10% of its business to 30% within 5 years by exploiting the sector’s growth margins. For this purpose it is devoting constant research into the development of new products and applications such as inkjet printing, a rapidly evolving technology for which RAS is designing customised formulations.
