Turkish Ceramics makes Bologna dance
After the success of last year’s event “Fire of Anatolia”, at Cersaie 2008 Turkish Ceramics is presenting the Shaman Dance Theatre’s new performance entitled “Bulusma” (“Meeting”). The event will be held in Bologna’s main square, the splendid mediaeval Piazza Maggiore, on 2 October from 20.00 to 20.45 and aims to offer all visitors to Cersaie a taste of the rich cultural heritage of one of the countries with the oldest ceramic traditions and now amongst the world leaders in the sector.
“As earth meets fire in ceramic, so the soul meets the body in dance” is the spirit with which the performers from the Shaman Dance Theatre will offer their exciting modern interpretation of folk dancing of Anatolia, a combination of various art forms and popular dances from all over the world. The Shaman Dance Theatre describes Anatolia as a tree that spreads its branches westward and in which are interwoven legendary tales of love, separation, struggle and war.
The new Shaman Dance Theatre performance involves 40 dancers and the contribution of 15 choreographers who have combined various art forms into a harmonious whole, from the folk dancing of Anatolia to modern dance and ballet, as well as other forms of popular dance from around the world in a unique artistic event. The programme includes folk songs and dances from Anatolia, Hungary, Georgia, Abkhazia, the Caucasian and Balkan regions, the authentic dancing of the Mevlevi whirling dervishes and the original ceremonial music of the Jannissary Band.
