Acimac: Ponzoni presents programme and team of vice chairmen

27/05/04 -A young team of vice chairman and an increase in Acimac’s representative scope to include all types of company operating in the ceramic machinery manufacturing sector are the key aspects of the programme that Pierluigi Ponzoni, future chairman of Acimac, presented this morning to the association’s executive board.

“Our member companies are still prevalently run by their founders,” explained Pierluigi Ponzoni, “but we are now seeing a change of generations. For this reason I wanted to form a team of brilliant young people who have a cultural background capable of complementing that of the older generation of entrepreneurs.”

One thing that the three vice chairman have in common is the fact that they represent the second or even the third generation of entrepreneurs (their average age is just 37) but nonetheless have long been involved in running their respective companies. The team that Ponzoni will bring to the election at the Annual General Members’ Meeting on Friday 11 June consists of:

Fabio Tarozzi, General Manager of the Barbieri & Tarozzi Group (Formigine, Modena), one of the world’s leading suppliers of complete plant for the ceramic industry; Tarozzi will head the Acimac Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs Commission, a position that was held by Franco Stefani during his term as chairman;

Rino Bedeschi, Managing Director of Bedeschi S.p.A. (Limena, Padua), one of the largest Italian manufacturers of brick and tile machinery; Bedeschi will hold the position of Chairman of S.A.L.A. srl, Acimac’s logistic and service company;

Gianbattista Pedrini, Sales Director of Pedrini S.p.A. (Carobbio degli Angeli, Bergamo), a company that specialises in the production of tile polishing and finishing machinery, with activities extending to the marble sector; Pedrini will chair the Acimac Technical Committee.

The choice of the team of vice chairman also reflects one of the key points of Ponzoni’s programme, namely a desire to increase Acimac’s scope of representation to the entire spectrum of companies in the sector, which is extremely varied in terms of company size, product type and geographical location.

The key points of the programme also include pursuing initiatives to promote greater cooperation between companies and to increase their size, a necessary condition for establishing a strong presence in markets and for pursuing effective policies in the field of research and innovation.

Last but not least, major efforts will be focused on promoting relations of mutual exchange and cooperation with the other components of the Italian ceramic industry (producers of tiles, glazes, colours and raw materials) through joint initiatives capable of helping all segments of the Italian ceramic production chain to deal more effectively with the competitive challenges of coming years.
