Agreement between Sacmi and Toyota Material Handling Italia
In keeping with its longstanding strategy based on the principles of lean innovation, on 17 June Sacmi signed an agreement with Toyota Material Handling Italia aimed at introducing a new concept of warehouse logistics in the ceramic industry.
The concept is based on an analysis of end-of-line logistic flows (i.e. the stages of grinding, polishing, fired product cutting and sorting system management) and marks an important step forward, particularly given the diffusion of new large-format ceramic panel production processes requiring a high degree of manufacturing flexibility.
The agreement also represents a concrete application of the Toyota Way, which involves carefully mapping corporate flows, analysing the difference between expected results and actual process outcomes, and identifying the activities that bring greatest added value for customers so as to eliminate time wastage (i.e. downtimes) and improve competitiveness.
Through the Academy and Logistics Solutions divisions, Toyota Material Handling Italia is an international leader in the analysis and management of corporate processes, in the design and supply of advanced warehousing and storage systems, and in the design and supply of internal warehousing logistics support systems.
