The Aracne network expands
One year on from its presentation, Aracne is continuing to pursue its goals with success and enthusiasm.
An integrated laboratory for the development of green building technologies and materials, Aracne boasts the participation of leading supplier companies to the building sector such as Colorobbia Italia, Smaltiflex and S.R.S., the contribution of ACIMAC (Italian ceramic machinery and equipment manufacturers’ association) and the cooperation of the laboratories INTERMECH (Modena), MATIMEC (Bologna) and EN&TECH (Reggio Emilia) belonging to the Regional Advanced Technology Network.
Financed by the regional funding programme “Dai distretti produttivi ai distretti tecnologici” (“From production districts to technological districts”), the project aims to bring together the expertise held by the various players in a single research programme. An integrated laboratory will be used to develop materials (flat glass, resins and metals) and application solutions with superior technological characteristics while observing the principles of environmental, social and economic sustainability during research and the subsequent scale-up phase.
Numerous technical meetings were held by work groups during 2011 to discuss topics such as functionalisation of surfaces and masses, coordination of the project’s administrative management and evaluation of potential for scientific collaboration. These led to the development of prototype software for the validation of economically, socially and environmentally sustainable projects.
Thanks to the efforts and involvement of the mayor Claudio Pistoni, a functional renovation project for the municipal headquarters of Fiorano is being conducted in accordance with the principles of the Aracne project.
