Confindustria Ceramica merges with ANDIL
The Members’ Meeting approved the merger by incorporation of ANDIL with Confindustria Ceramica, which now also represents the brick and roof tile producers.
The 2019 Confindustria Ceramica Members’ Meeting held on 11 June also approved the merger by incorporation of ANDIL, the association representing the Italian brick and roof tile manufacturers, a sector consisting of 76 companies with 94 factories (of which 62 are owned by member companies) and 3,500 employees. In 2018 the sector produced 4.5 million tons of clay products (including masonry bricks, facing bricks, roof tiles, terracotta, floor blocks and ceiling tiles), which are mainly sold in the Italian market, and generated a turnover of 380 million euros.
The partnership between the two associations began in 2010 with the Federazione Confindustria Ceramica e Laterizi, which coordinates activities and certain specific functions such as energy, sustainability and communication.
Following the merger with Andil, Confindustria Ceramica now represents all Italian industrial sectors involved in clay working: ceramic tiles, sanitaryware, tableware, refractories and bricks and roof tiles. These five sectors boast a total of 303 companies, 31,553 employees and a turnover of more than 7.4 billion euros.
Italy is the only country within the European federation Cerame-Unie with such a far-reaching level of representation.
