Denain-Anzin Minéraux acquires 80% of Minalca

16/06/2003 - On 3 June 2003, Denain Anzin Minéraux (DAM) acquired 80% of the Spanish company Minas of Alcantara (Minalca).

Minalca is a producer of high quality potassium feldspar with low iron and titanium content intended for the tile, glaze and glass market. The deposit of several million tons of reserve and the plant are located at Acehuche (Caceres) Spain, near the Portuguese border and ideally located to serve the markets of the centre of Spain and Portugal, as well as the extra white applications of the principal European markets.
The unit has been in service since 2001 and sold 43,000 tonnes last year.

The Paris-based company Denain-Anzin Minéraux is one of the leading European feldspar producers with sales of 730,000 tonnes in 2002 and units in France, Germany and Italy.
