Eczacibasi Ceramica starts up new plant

10/11/03 - Following an investment of US $4 million, the Turkish Eczacibasi Group's ceramic division recently started up a new plant capable of producing 850,000 square metres of porcelain tile a year at its factory in Bozuyuk.
The plant is equipped with a 4,600 tonne press and will be able to produce large format tiles with high-quality decorations.
The Turkish ceramic company has an annual production capacity of 16.5 million square metres, divided between the facility in Turkey and the one in Ireland. Some 70% of output is exported to the major world markets, generating revenues in the region of $50 million.

The company's most valuable project to date is an 18,000 square metre area in the new terminal at Munich airport, Germany.
