Fincibec obtains Zero CO2 No Emission

Fincibec Group has for many years been devoting efforts to a correct industrial ecology policy and has now decided to look beyond the production process to achieve an even greater level of environmental friendliness. For this purpose, the Group has financed the projects of two important organisations promoting reforestation in Georgia, USA and Uganda and the conversion of organic waste into methane gas in India.

Verus Carbon Neutral, which promotes projects traded on the CCX (Chicago Climate Exchange), the internationally recognised market for the exchange of greenhouse gas emission reduction certificates, has granted Fincibec shares for the elimination of 833 tons of CO2 from the forest managing activities of Valley Wood Carbon Sequestration Project, in Georgia (USA), and 250 tons of CO2 originating from the conversion of organic waste into methane gas for cooking operated by the Andhyodaya Biogas Project, in Kerala, India.

Shares for the elimination of 50 tons of CO2 were purchased from Live Climate, a programme run by the non-profit organisation Carbonfund.org, world leader in the Carbon Offset sector, deriving from the activity of ECOTRUST (Environment Conservation Trust Uganda) in Uganda, a local non-profit organisation that promotes reforestation.

This has enabled Fincibec Group to obtain zero CO2 emissions certification from Bureau Veritas, a world leader in the evaluation and analysis of risks relating to quality, the environment, health, safety and social responsibility (QHSE-SA). The logo “Zero CO2 No Emission” will be used for the certified product collections, which at present are Geotech and Ethnos from Monocibec, Darwin and Cross Over from Century and Greenway from Naxos.
