Florim secures double-digit growth
In 2015 Florim Group made major investments in innovation and technological modernisation in keeping with its commitment to reduce environmental impact, as well as opening new flagship stores in Milan and New York.
The 8th Sustainability Report drawn up by the company paints a picture of a dynamic and constantly expanding business. In 2015, the group led by Claudio Lucchese reported a consolidated turnover of 374 million euros (13.6% up on 2014), 16.3% growth in EBITDA to 19.1 million euros (26.2% of turnover) and net profits of 43.3 million euros (+18.9%).
Of the 34 million euros invested during the year, 13.7 million euros was set aside for renovating the raw materials preparation department at the Maker facility, where two new lines for grinding and treatment of traditional porcelain and large panels were also installed. A further 12.5 million euros was invested in the third phase of operations at the Florim USA facility in Tennessee, where construction work on the new raw materials depot recently began.
As for environmental responsibility, in 2015 Florim continued with its policy of carefully managing its activities and their impact on the local area and the environment. Despite the significant increase in production (25 million sq.m in 2015), all environmental parameters relating to waste management, water consumption, energy management, atmospheric emissions and transport were kept in line with the values for previous years and below the threshold values established by legislation. Florim has also devoted a great deal of effort to the theme of recycling. As well as using recycled paper for all its packaging, last year three new packaging machines were installed at the Maker factory allowing for considerable cardboard savings. The company also maintained its commitment to social responsibility, carrying through initiatives to promote income support, safety, education and health of employees.
