Forterra appoints new CEO
Neil Ash takes over from Stephen Harris, who will leave the group in Q2 2023.
As of 3 April, Neil Ash is officially the new CEO of Forterra, the British brick maker listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Ash is a successful leader with almost 3 decades’ experience in the building materials sector, part of which he spent at Belgian manufacturer Etex where he led the Building Performance division.
His experience includes 15 years at Lafarge, where he undertook many roles including that of Vice President International Business Development and Sales and Commercial Director UK & Ireland of Lafarge Plasterboard. During his time at Etex, he oversaw major capex projects and significant acquisitions, and developed a sales approach which delivered strong top line growth.
Before leaving the group in the second quarter of 2023, outgoing CEO Stephen Harrison will work closely with Ash to ensure an orderly transition.
The new CEO will have to deal with a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the new Desford plant recently operational and the Wilnecote plant scheduled to begin operation in Q4 2023. The company has also approved a £12 million investment in a new brick slip production line due to begin operation in the first half of 2024.
The Northampton-based manufacturer posted excellent financial results in 2022, including revenues of £455.5 million, up 23% from the previous year’s £370.4 million, and an EBITDA of £91.5 million (+19.6%).
