Franco Manfredini new Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica
Franco Manfredini has been elected Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica for the two-year period 2009-2010 with 98.89% of the votes. He takes over from Alfonso Panzani who has served two consecutive terms since 2005 and cannot be re-elected. The election took place during the General Meeting held on Monday 25 May at the Association’s headquarters.
Franco Manfredini boasts many years of experience in the Association. He joined the Assopiastrelle Executive Board in May 1986 and has acted as chairman of various advisory committees, including ‘Technical Standards’, ‘Training, School and University’ and ‘Environment and Safety’, and has also been a member of the ‘Statistics and Editorial Activities’ committee.
In 1961 he was the first employee of Casalgrande Padana, becoming a partner two years later and Chairman and Managing Director in 1974. Casalgrande Padana has 1,110 employees and in 2008 reported a turnover of 295 million euro. It has six production facilities, all located in the Sassuolo - Scandiano ceramic district.

The Members’ Meeting elected Federchimica Chairman Giorgio Squinzi (Mapei) as representative of allied companies, directors Burani Viterbo, De Maio Giovanni and Ligabue Andrea as representatives of smaller companies, Forni Giancarlo and Pegoraro Cesare as representatives of the Refractories Industry, and Stefano Antetomaso and Riccardo Sala as representatives of the sanitaryware and tableware sector.
