Geomix named sole distributor for the SOKA range in Italy
Geomix of Castellarano (Reggio Emilia), a leading supplier of raw materials for porcelain tile bodies, has expanded its product range through a recent agreement for exclusive distribution in Italy of materials produced by French company SOKA (Société Kaolinière Armoricaine).
The ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 certified company has been quarrying and processing kaolins and clays at various sites in France for more than 60 years. In the spring of 2014 it made a major investment (more than 6 million euros) in the Kazatin Vinnitsu region of western Ukraine, where it will produce around 100,000 tons/year of crude and processed kaolins for the ceramic tile and sanitaryware market, as well as the agricultural and pesticide industry.
The SOKA range joins the already extensive Geomix catalogue, which also includes materials supplied by German companies Goerg&Schneider (Westerwald) and Maroton (a specialist in the quarrying of ball clays located mainly in Upper Bavaria and northeast Germany).
To complete the range, various types of feldspar and clay mixes can be specially formulated to meet the ceramic tile industry's need for alternative solutions for glazed and unglazed porcelain tile bodies.
Set up just three years ago, Geomix reported a turnover of more than 8 million euros in 2014.
