Giorgio Squinzi confirmed as chairman of Federchimica

28/05/07 - The executive board of Federchimica has unanimously approved the nomination of Giorgio Squinzi as the Federation’s chairman designate for the two-year period 2007-2008.
Mr Squinzi, sole administrator of Mapei, will be put forward for election at Federchimica’s members’ meeting on 4 June.

First elected as the Federation’s Chairman in 1999, Mr Squinzi continued to hold the appointment for the following two terms. After being elected Confindustria vice chairman in charge of research, in 2003 he left the appointment at Federchimica but returned in 2005.

Giorgio Squinzi, 64, has a degree in chemistry and an honorary degree in chemical engineering and is sole administrator of the Mapei Group.
Founded in 1937, the Group is now the world leader in the building chemicals sector with a turnover of 1.45 billion euro and 4,800 employees. The Group comprises 47 companies (7 in Italy) operating in 24 different countries worldwide.
